Insurance Information

Tamera accepts most insurance plans and will file your insurance for you.  Normally these plans pay 50% to 90% after the deductible is met.  If you would like to know your insurance benefits, call the phone number for customer service on the front or back of your insurance card.  Ask them what your out of network benefits are.  Determine how much your deductible is and how much has been met.  Finally, ask what percent of the fee they will cover.

Tamera can work with clients to provide short-term therapy to address discrete problems, or on a longer term basis to address more pervasive difficulties.

Changing Insurance

Many employers change insurance providers about every two years. This means that if you only use providers on your plan, you would need to change therapists whenever your policy changes.  Therapy, however, is a much more intimate service than other services you receive from doctors, and you can save a lot of time in therapy by working with someone whom you have a past history.  Therefore, you may want to consider if you are really saving money in the long run by initiating a new therapist relationship based solely on short-term cost savings.

One should realize that accepting insurance benefits has both advantages and pitfalls. The advantages are reduced costs per session, often from $0 to $45 per session.  Conversely, there are the negative aspects of using insurance.    For all insurance carriers, you must receive a mental health diagnosis.  This information goes into a database with your insurance provider.  In filing your insurance benefits, Tamera does not have any control over what is done with your diagnosis by your insurance provider.  So one should seriously weigh the costs and benefits to make an informed decision.
